Being a professional sculptor was not something for bragging instead it was a mission and responsibility.
In the fall of 1980, I quit the teaching job and became a full time artist.
Researched sculpture, fully devoted myself to creation of art twenty four hours a day seven days a week, and studied different theories and movements of arts, including the origin of Modern Art, actualization of Abstract Art, Daddism, Surrealism, Assemblage Art, OP and POP Art ,Minimal Art, Happening and Event Art, Conceptual Art, New Realism, Performance Art, and Installation Art, For creating Art, I started from clay and wood sculpture as a student to the skills and theories of steel sculpture as a full time artist. I was familiar with steel since I was a kid. For more than twenty years, I completely devoted myself to the sculpting of steel.
Comparing it to the starting and experimenting steel sculpture thirty years ago, it showed big differences and improvements in both the content and the appearance. Even though being a professional sculptor today, I strongly feel the broad and difficulty of art and dare not overlook. Hope another breakthrough in the creation is on the way and better results and improvements in the future.
