CHEN CHIN, born in Hsinchu Hsien in 1907, is the only famous female painter of Taiwan before the Restoration. While in the Third Girls' Senior High School, a Japanese art teacher greatly appreciated her talents for painting and encouraged her to go to the Tokyo Fine Arts Girls' School in Japan. As a freshman in the school, she competed in the First East Asia Painting Exhibition of Taiwan in 1927, and three of her paintings, "Beauty", "Poppy" and "Morning", were selected for the exhibition. As a result, she, together with LIN YU SHAN and KUO HSUEH HU, were called the "Three Youths of the Art Exhibition of Taiwan".  
 
CHEN CHIN's passion for painting can be traced far back to her teenage. She has been a diligent and zealous painter throughout her whole life. Her detailed and unique observation of her surroundings was faithfully reflected in her paintings.  
 
From an educated young girl to a loving grandmother, CHEN CHIN catches the most worthy praised beauty and true feelings of life by projecting them onto her paintings. Through her paintings, she communicates her viewers the message of love, peace and harmony.
