Chang Yi-Hsiung,born in Chiayi, Taiwan. He was enlighted by Chen Cheng-Po when he was a kid, and never quit painting. He went to Japan and studied hard at Guanxi fine arts institute, Musashino Art University, and Kawabata Painting School for more than 10 years, and established solid painting skills. Then he taught in Beijin. After returning to Taiwan, he taught fine arts at National Taiwan Normal University and National Taiwan Academy of Arts. Several now known artists were his students. In order to achieve higher level, he went to Japan again. In 1980 he settled in Paris which he had been dreaming about. But his heart is still in Taiwan. He is very active in participating non-profit events or exhibitions. He has remarkable world view among those senior artists in Taiwan.

He had gotten many prizes and honors, especially the highest honor in art. He also got selected many times at Spring and Fall Solo Exhibitions in France. He is the first Taiwanese who received France artist annuity. He had joined several artists’ societies, and had high achievements in art.

In his early period, he used “Black Lines” to express everyday subjects. His solid skills and strokes depict his life full of destitution and struggling. After settling in France, he fully takes controls of color and strokes, and realizes real gradations. His personality of pursuing “multi-slef” is really artists’ model.
